Learning New Tricks

Tuesday, 6 May 2014

We were so surprised when at 12 weeks old our little baby rolled from front to back for the first time! It wasn't a fluke as she did it a number of times, and luckily I was there with my phone capturing the moment. However after that she kind of gave up. She must have thought 'hey mum, see I can do it, now that's it!' haha! She did manage to roll a few times since but that's about it.

However these past few weeks she's been getting right onto her side from her back. She was literally twisting the whole way around.. and boy it didn't look comfortable! With this she learnt to catterpillar shuffle haha (I don't think this is the correct term but it's what we call it). She arches her back and pushes backwards with her feet. She gets all over the place doing this!

Then yesterday out of the blue she finally did it (at 22 weeks 6 days)... and she hasn't stopped since! She constantly flips back to front to get anything she sees around her she wants. The only down side to this is she still hasn't quite mastered the rolling back, so she gets frustrated pretty quickly. Then it's just a juggling act of her rolling and me flipping her back haha!

I'm SO incredibly proud of her. But I'm also quite sad. She's growing up so much, and doesn't look like a little baby anymore at all! I'm also worried about her now flipping at night and her being on her stomach, but I guess I can't really stop it now haha!

At what age did your little ones roll for the first time?
