2016, A Year in Review

Sunday, 1 January 2017

Happy New Year!

Can you believe we're in 2017 already?

I loved writing my year in review post last year, so I couldn't not do one again this year...

January

A little tradition for us is to start the new year with a family walk. We headed to Bodium Castle, which started our resolution to discover more National Trust properties in our area.

Things also got exciting for Parker as we started our weaning journey. He's loved food from day one, and I honestly cannot imagine him not sat with us eating meals now.

February

With Parker turning 6 months old, I starting thinking about labour again, and how all births are different. I still find this post so interesting as my two labours were almost chalk and cheese!

March

I celebrated my third Mother's Day with a little mummy daughter date with Indie. I remember the day so clearly now and still have the items we painted on display.

We had a fun filled Easter with lots of family days out including a visit to Lambing Weekend, egg hunts at Howlett's Zoo and plenty of chocolate.

April

April was a very busy month! I finally opened up and shared my experience with anxiety. It's still one of my favourites posts, and something I really worked on in 2016.

Indiana was completely dry during the day by April - potty training was something I was completely dreading, but was actually pretty pain free when it came to it. Indie took to it really well and we were so proud.

I was thrilled to work with Butlin's this year as one of their Ambassadors. We had a Just for Tots trip to Bognor Regis at the end of April - a holiday that we will remember for a very long time. I was definitely skeptical at first, but we honestly loved it!

May

We celebrated May in style by finally heading off to Crete on our Familymoon. It was definitely the best holiday we've ever been on, and I am secretly hoping we can go back this year.

We started working with Babymoov, as one of their Ambassadors this month too. I loved sharing Parker's weaning journey, and had some fab products to use too.

June

We made the most of the lovely weather in June and visited lots more National Trust properties, including a trip to Ightham Mote. I remember this day so well - Parker had just started crawling properly as he loved exploring on the grass.

June saw me attend my first ever blogging conference, Britmums Live (BML16). I was so proud of myself for overcoming my anxiety to attend, and it was lovely to meet some fellow bloggers.

July

It was another lovely month weather wise, so of course we followed the blogger trend and took our two strawberry picking.

We were lucky enough to work with smarTrike on their smarT Discoveries campaign. He loves his trike and it was perfect weather for scooting around the park.

August

We celebrated two birthdays in August. Our beautiful boy Parker turned ONE on August 4th, and we celebrated with a huge party in the park with family and friends. Parker was a very lucky boy and we also had a rainy trip to Peppa Pig World for his birthday too.

I also celebrated my birthday, with a lovely trip away with Jack to the Warner Bros Studios.

September

The weather thankfully stuck around for September so we could have plenty more days out, including doing the Stick Man trail at Bedgebury Pinetum, and visiting London with Little Tikes.

I wrote about my experience of being a mummy of two - another post I'm really proud of - and shared a brother and sister room tour that proved popular!

October

Another busy month for us, kicking off with Jack and I celebrating our first wedding anniversary! We celebrated with a stay in London just the two of us - it was perfect.

An October in the world of blogging wouldn't have been complete without a trip to the pumpkin patch. It was such a fun experience, and one I hope we continue for years to come!

We spent our half term in beautiful Norfolk with Jack's family. We were SO lucky with the weather and managed to visit so many lovely places including Wells beach, Pensthorpe and two National Trust properties, Sheringham Park and Felbrigg Hall.

November

We worked with the lovely Alex from Lamb & Bear reviewing her clothing range. If you haven't checked them out before you are really missing out!

November is another birthday month, with our beautiful girl Indiana turning three. She really blossomed in 2016, turning into such a little girl. We threw our very first birthday party at soft play for her, and she loved it.

December

Christmas was the main focus of December, and it was honestly the best one yet! Both littles were into it this year making it so much more special. We took Indie ice skating for the first time, visited Father Christmas at intu Lakeside and I completed Vlogmas for the third year!

Last year went by in a flash. Full of ups and downs; although a year I will personally look back on with a smile. We've had so many wonderful trips away, plenty of family days out, and I've worked with so many lovely brands through my blog.

I officially left my job and decided to put all my spare time (when I find it alongside looking after my crazy pair), into this blog and our youtube channel. I am so proud of how far I've come in just a year. From my blog being just a hobby, to actually earning money through it. As well as going from waaaay outside of the Tots100 chart to ending the year being number 223.

I'm still a very small fish is a big big ocean, but I'm proud of my little space and cannot wait to see what happens this year!

Here's to an even better 2017!
