Christmas Gifts for Preschoolers | Christmas 2017

Saturday, 25 November 2017

We've found that preschool age (3-4) is a difficult one when it comes to present buying. Indiana is just about to celebrate her 4th birthday, and although she's given us suggestions of what she wants, most of them just aren't practical - they're either too grown up or too young for her.

I've popped together this gift guide of ideas that I think would be perfect for her, and other preschoolers her age. To hopefully give you some inspiration this festive season!

Kinetic Sand

A whole new world of toys open to little ones when they turn 3, and one we're excited to try this year is Kinetic Sand. Described as 'a three-dimensional building toy made of 98% sand and 2% polydimethylsiloxane', kinetic sand is special because it's not supposed to dry out, isn't messy and is easy to clean up - I was instantly sold! This set that we've purchased also features Paw Patrol which is one of her favourites shows; a sure fire winner I think.

Jungle Jam Books*

We absolutely love to read in our house, and despite an already overflowing book collection we're always buying more. These lovely Jungle Jam books would make a perfect stocking filler either individually or as a complete set! Written by a mum and dad, the rhyming books were created to introduce children to new sounds, cultures and musical instruments. The stories also explore a range of life lessons while still being entertaining and lovely to look at.

LittleLife Gruffalo Poncho Towel*

On the subject of books, this fun yet practical gift is sure to be a winner with little Gruffalo fans. The Gruffalo poncho towel by LittleLife is the latest addition to their range, and includes all the fun features from the story such as orange eyes and 3D purple prickles! Perfect for bath time, the pool or even the beach (it's UPF 50+ too), it would definitely make a lovely gift this Christmas. What's even cuter is that it comes in two sizes, so your preschooler could match your toddler too!

Magnetic Shapes Activity Box by Fiesta Crafts*

If your little one loves to get creative, then this is definitely the perfect gift for them! The Magnetic Shapes Activity Box contains everything they would need to create thousands of different customised pictures, including 76 chunky shapes and faces, a dry-wipe pen, chalks and a rubber. Everything comes neatly stored inside the box too, so they can use it either at home or out and about.

Amazon Kindle Fire (Kids Edition)

Maybe a bit of a controversial one for preschoolers, but Indie's main Christmas gift this year is going to be a Fire Kids Edition. I personally think a lot can be learnt from a tablet these days though, and with the limits and features on the Kindle we're not worried about her using it unsafely. We've chosen the Kids version specifically as it comes with 1 year of Fire for Kids Unlimited, a protective case and a 2 year 'worry free' guarantee - "if they break it, return it and we'll replace it for free. No questions asked." We can set up limits on the parent account, but she'll have loads of learning apps to play with, and of course access to Youtube for when she needs some down time.
Toy State CAT Machine Maker*

Perfect for little ones who love to build and create, the CAT Machine Maker Junior Operator range from Toy State are such a unique fun toy. The sets come equipped with all the pieces needed to build each CAT machine (there are 5 different models to collect), as well as a chunky screwdriver and storage carry case. I know Indie is going to love working out how to build the vehicle correctly, although I'm sure we'll get plenty of 'creative' versions as well - but that's the beauty of the toy!

Snazaroo Face Paint: 'Mini' Range*

A perfect stocking filler for boys or girls, these Mini Theme Packs from Snazaroo come in five different themes, with a couple of designs in each. Each set comes with three colours, a brush, a sponge and an easy to follow 3-step guide, to create beautiful creations whenever your little one fancies (which has been very regularly for us since Halloween!). The fact they're so small would make them perfect for letting your little one give it a go themselves too (all Snazaroo products are easy to wash off and are suitable for sensitive skin types).

I know Indie would loveee to receive any of these gifts, so I hope this has given you a little bit of inspiration this festive season!
