Our Year, 2017

Happy New Year!

And helloooooo 2018!

I hope you all had a wonderful one? We welcomed the new year with a Chinese and games at my sister's house with my sister, my brother in-law and their partners . It was quiet, but now I'm a parent (and rather heavily pregnant), it was actually pretty perfect to me!

I've loved sharing my little review of the previous year on my blog for the last two years now - you can read 2015 and 2016 posts here. And so of course it wouldn't feel right to start the new year, without sharing the same this year too.

The year started with a brand new adventure for our biggest girly. Indiana started Preschool, and our journey into school runs and packed lunches began. She took to preschool life like a duck to water, and she would happily go all day, everyday if she could. She's learnt so much already and made some lovely little friends, and I couldn't be more proud of her!

January also gave us our first dusting of proper snow in a loooong time. We of course couldn't wait to take the littles out in it, so we bundled them up and popped to Knole to build our very first family snowman. I don't think they were quite so excited as Jack and I were, but it is a lovely memory to look back on.

February was a rather quiet month for us. Parker turned 18 months old, which seems like such a big milestone (although reading this update now, he looks soo little). He also tarted swimming lessons with Puddle Ducks and Konfidence, as we were one of their Baby Swimologists. It was lovely to watch his confidence grow in the water, and although we only experienced one term, he's definitely learnt some essential skills from it.

March was a very big month for us, as we made the move from our little flat of 3 years, to a house! Moving with little ones was stressful, and we may have left the packing until the very last minute. But my goodness was it the best decision we made! Having more space, our very own front door, and most importantly a garden for the littles to enjoy (and for us to dry washing!) - it really is the little things that are most important as you get older.

We started April playing the waiting game. I was asked to be my sister's birth partner, and she was taken in to be induced at the very end of March. With Jack working and both littles at home with me, I wasn't sure I'd make it... but on the 2nd April I was so pleased to be there when my beautiful niece Harleigh was born! The date also happened to be Jack's birthday, so although I missed spending the day with him, he did get a rather exciting little gift.

Easter fell towards the end of April this year, and we were so excited to spend the holidays at Butlin's Minehead! We had such a fun long weekend, and already cannot wait to head back to Butlin's at some point soon. While in Somerset we thought we'd extend our trip, and ended up visiting Bath (somewhere I've wanted to go for aaaages), and Longleat. And both were amazing!

May was the month of our family holiday abroad! We decided on the Holiday Village in Ibiza, after recommendations from our lovely friends Harriet and Josh. It was a week of relaxing, lots of food, quality family time, and fun.

Of course the holiday was slightly overshadowed by the little secret we were keeping... on the 7th May I got that positive test. On our first month of trying, and after just 'feeling pregnant'. We of course didn't share the news for a few months, but it was so lovely to be on our final pregnancy journey!

June passed in a blur of early pregnancy exhaustion and nausea, so I don't think I managed to capture too much. Of course it was the General Election, so Parker and I headed off to vote - my very first time actual going to a polling station.

We also spent Father's Day at Nyman's National Trust. I remember the day so vividly, because it was absolutely scorching hot! We bought ice creams and they had practically melted before we had even sat down - I can't even imagine it ever being that warm at the moment.

We began the month announcing our exciting baby news. I loved filming our little video announcement, and I think it's one of my favourite videos I've ever edited! We were absolutely blown away by the amount of congratulations and well wishes we received.. I always thought third babies weren't as exciting for others.

The rest of the month was rather relaxed, with the end of preschool for Indiana and just enjoying the lovely summer weather (when it made it's appearance). I was invited to the most gorgeous afternoon tea and pampering session at The Dorchester, with Asda Little Angels. We also made it back to our local PYO to collect as many strawberries as possible - although just like the year before, Parker ate more than we actually brought home!

August has always been a busy month for us, with both Parker and I celebrating our birthdays. We celebrated Parker turning two with a trip to the Sea Life Centre and a BBQ birthday party at home with family. For my birthday, Jack booked us a little Babymoon to the New Forest. It was our first 'long' trip away from the littles, but it was oh so lovely.

We also announced the gender of bump, with a surprise confetti cannon gender reveal! It was soo lovely to find out alongside everyone else, and it's another one of my favourite videos of the year too.

After a lovely summer holidays, Indie headed back to preschool without even a look back. I'm so pleased she settled in so well, as it's made the big transition so much easier for all of us! We also started the month with our 20 week scan, marking the half way point of our third pregnancy. It is scary how fast those weeks fly by!

We ended the month with our last trip of the year, to the lovely Bluestone Resort in Wales. Despite the looong drive, it was such a lovely break away. The littles both flourished in the swimming pool, we explored Tenby in the pouring rain and made some lovely memories. If you ask what Indie and Parker's favourite part was though, they'd probably say riding around on our golf buggy!

October is always one of my favourite months, and this year we celebrated our second wedding anniversary. We didn't do anything special, but just spending some quality time as a couple is enough for us!

Of course October is also the month of pumpkins and Halloween, and we I feel as if we really embraced it this year. We headed back to the pumpkin patch for the second year in a row - a tradition we're definitely going to make yearly. And the littles loved dressing up on the big night; getting so excited every time someone knocked on the door.

Despite it not being that long ago, November was one of the months where I can hardly remember what we got up to. It passed in a blur or preschool runs, midwife appointments and super chilly weather. We did capture my favourite sibling project snaps of the year though! We loved the photo so much we had it put onto a canvas for Jack's parents for Christmas.

We also celebrated our beautiful girl's fourth birthday at the end of the month, with a unicorn themed day. We went ice skating with our friends Harriet and Josh, and their little ones and had family over for cake and presents. I can't believe I started this blog when she was just 4 months old, and now we've sent off her school application for September!

And so December ended the year with a bang! We had all the festive fun including Indie's very first nativity, seeing Father Christmas (after crazily booking tickets back in September), and of course celebrating our last family Christmas as a family of four. This year was definitely the most magical one yet, with both Indie and Parker the most excited I've ever seen them!

Going through our year to create this post really made me realise what a fantastic year we've had. Of course there were plenty of not-so-special moments, but they were totally overshadowed by all the amazing experiences and memories we made.

I already know there's so many exciting things to come from 2018 - a new baby, our trip to Disneyland Paris, 2 weddings and our biggest girl starting school. I just hope I can document it all, ready to round up again next year!
