BabyZen YOYO+ | Review

4.6.17

A couple of years ago, I remember watching this video from Sarah in absolute awe. The BabyZen YOYO looked liked such an amazing pushchair. Especially perfect for travelling and using in and around the airport.

When we booked our family holiday this year, I instantly knew what pushchair I wanted to use for our almost two year old Parker. I was therefore thrilled when the lovely team at Whitestep offered to lend us their BabyZen YOYO+ to test out. And my goodness, were we impressed!

At the Airport

Travelling with the BabyZen YOYO+ really couldn't be easier. Measuring just 52 x 44 x 18 cm it is the most compact pushchair I've ever seen. We had to travel by car, bus and then train (we went to the wrong terminal.. whoops!), just to get to the airport, and we managed it all so smoothly.

The pushchair took up minimal room in the car boot - an essential when you've also got bulky suitcases in the back. We then breezed through the airport and straight to the plane. Unfortunately we had to put the pushchair in the hold on our outbound flight (there were already TWO other BabyZen's taken on!). Thankfully though the pushchair comes with it's own transport bag, so I had no worries about damage.

On the flight home we had no issues taking the BabyZen YOYO+ onto the plane though. It fit perfectly into the overhead compartment, and made travelling at the other end SO much easier. The second we were off the plane we unfolded it, popped Parker in and we were on our way. No waiting at baggage claim. No toddler running around through security. Easy.

Features & Thoughts

Day to day we use an iCandy Peach for Parker. A pushchair I always thought was light and easy to push. But since using the BabyZen YOYO+ I honestly can't believe how heavy that pram now feels. The YOYO+ is light (only 6.6kg max) and is so lovely to push.

The full handle means it can be pushed with one hand, and the patented 'soft drive' system means there is no need to block it's front wheels, regardless of ground conditions. We tested the pushchair over cobbles, bumpy streets, and even took it on the beach (backwards of course, but it managed it!). And at no point did Parker seem uncomfortable.

If anything Parker couldn't wait to get in and go! The height of the pushchair meant he could climb in and out by himself, which is what I think he enjoyed most. I did find the 5 point harness a little tricky and I think it could be made easier, but that's actually the only negative I have about the whole thing. The backrest is also easily adjusted by pulling the strap at the back of the seat, although we rarely used this feature as Parker is far too nosey.

Three features I absolutely love about the YOYO+ are the hood, the basket and the handy zipped pocket. The hood is extendable and features a clear pocket so you can peep through at your little one without disturbing them. The hood also has UPF 50+ protection, so it's great if you're travelling to a sunny destination.

The basket size is another plus. Okay so it wouldn't fit a changing bag in, but I was surprised by how big it actually was. Perfect for storing the rain cover, drinks, snacks and any other bits and bobs. At one point we had it stuffed with rubber rings and water toys and there was still room for more.

The zipped pocket on the back of the hood is also perfect. Wearing dresses most of our holiday I didn't have any pockets. The pocket was therefore so handy for popping my phone, Jack's wallet and spare dummies in. This also meant they were easy to grab as and when we needed to as well.

You may have noticed I haven't mentioned how to use the pushchair in this review. That's because I've actually put together a video that shows the YOYO+ in action. I had to watch a few of these myself to get the technique right, but after a few goes I had it mastered. Don't worry though, it's easy!

Overall we absolutely loved using the BabyZen YOYO+, and I'm honestly gutted we're saying goodbye to it. It's easy to use, soo convenient and definitely the perfect pushchair for travelling and beyond!

Disclosure - We were loaned this pushchair in exchange for our honest review. All opinions are my own.

Cosatto To & Fro Pushchair | Review

23.9.15

Back in May I was contacted by the lovely people at Cosatto and asked if I wanted to review their brand new pushchair, the To & Fro. I practically jumped at the chance and was so excited when it arrived. We began using is with our toddler Indiana, but now our baby boy Parker has arrived we've been able to use it to the full. The To & Fro is a streamline pushchair that also doubles up as a travel system too - oh and it's also forward AND parent facing... amazing!

The To & Fro is suitable from birth by using either the seat in parent facing mode, or by using it as a travel system with the Cosatto Hold carseat (you do have to buy this separately). In parent facing mode the seat lays flat and with the head hugger and included foot muff, it creates a cosy and comfortable ride for any newborn. Then once you feel baby is ready to face the world you just flip the seat and hood over, and hey presto, it's back to a regular stroller! At first I did feel like I was going to break the hood when pulling it through, but it really was so simple, and doesn't take long at all. I will say though that without the footmuff there was a slight gap in the fabric when in parent facing mode.

This means there's no need to buy and transport extra bits and bobs as you really do have all you need in one unit! What I loved was that each side has it's own harness (although you do have to pull these through if you want to adjust the height of them - we had to do this when we used it for Parker in newborn mode, and Indiana in stroller mode.

Each way has it's own design too which I think is a brilliant touch. Cosatto's bright, vibrant and fun designs really are eye-catching and definitely make the pram stand out from the crowd. I chose the 'Pitter Patter' design as thought it was the most suitable for both genders, however there are others to choose from.

Using the pushchair with the car seat made a quick trip to town a lot easier. We managed to quickly pop on the car seat adaptors without even needing the instructions; although I will say getting the car seat onto these was a bit of a fiddle (it took both of us a number of attempts to get both sides on!). I will also say the one negative about this is that if you were using the pushchair is parent facing mode, and then wanted to use the car seat, you do have to flip it back - something that does slow down the process a little bit. The car seat itself was lovely and padded and Parker looked really comfortable in it. Jack also said the base was VERY easy to install into the car and made using the car seat a lot easier.

We did have a cheap umbrella stroller before but the added extras with this one just blew me away. Firstly the handles are height adjustable. This is a fab little extra, especially for us as I'm short and Jack's tall, so it caters to us both.

The pushchair also comes with a cup holder - essential for when out and about - and a raincover which is very easy to pop on and off. The foot muff is reversible so it matches the two designs and is fully lined and padded to create a comfortable ride for baby. The pushchair is easy to put up and down and when folded stands by itself too. Finally the hood has a panel to view your child through while on the go, a pocket for storing your essentials, and an extra flap so your child is completely shaded from the sun!

I must add a few negatives as it isn't 100% perfect, but these really haven't put us off using it at all. The pushchair is heavy. I love how sturdy and well-made the pushchair is, but this does mean that it it weightier than your cheaper umbrella-style pushchair. This doesn't affect how easy it is to push, but for people like us that have to carry it up and down stairs it is a bit annoying! The pushchair is also long when folded. This means it doesn't fit in the back of our Seat Ibiza unless the parcel shelf is off, or we have to put it on the back seats (something we now cannot do with two car seats in there)!

Overall we absolutely love the Cosatto To & Fro. We love that we can use it for both our toddler Indiana and our newborn baby boy Parker without having to make many changes. It's design means you only ever need to buy one pushchair; it really would last you from birth until they no longer need a pram. Also how can you not love that design and the fact it comes with a 4 year guarantee as standard!

Disclaimer - We were sent the Cosatto To & Fro Pushchair, Hold carseat and carseat base for the purpose of this review. However all opinions are honest, my own and we have not been paid for this review

Mamas & Papas Kato Buggy | Review

4.8.14

All the way back in June we went on our first family holiday to Majorca. We knew one of the first things we needed to purchase was a smaller buggy for whilst we were there. We decided on the Mamas & Papas Kato buggy in grey/pink. It was on offer for £50 down from £100 so we knew it was going to be good quality, and the price was reasonable too!

My initial thoughts of the buggy was that it was quite big and bulky. When folded it is longer than most buggies and only just fit in the boot of Jack's Seat Ibiza. However, after using it for our holiday I really love it!

It's SO easy to push and had no trouble with uneven surfaces, it even survived being pushed along the beach. The wheels can be either locked or allowed to swivel (which is what we prefer), and the handles are foam covered so are comfortable to hold whilst pushing. The basket is a reasonable size and fits in a lot more than you think too.

You can easily pop the hood up or down to offer shade. Then the foot rest can be lifted up or down depending on the size of the child it is being used for. The website claims the buggy can be used from birth as it lays pretty flat by just pulling the tab at the back (then pulling it u again to sit it back up). Although I would never used a buggy for a newborn I think it's great that the option is there.

It came with a raincover which is a bonus. It just poppers onto the hood to protect the child when it's wet. A negative of this though it that it doesn't cover the whole buggy, so the hood itself would actually get wet, which I think it a bit silly really! The five point harness although easy to use could also do with some improvement. As the straps are joint together they become twisted and mixed up quite easily.

Overall we love the buggy and will be using it for definite when we need it. Indie seemed to love facing outwards and watching what was going on, and had no trouble falling asleep in it either (with help from the SnoozeShade of course)! For the price I think it's just what we needed and I would definitely recommend it for a holiday or just for use as a buggy in general.
