The Siblings Project | December 2019

20.12.19

Another year of Siblings Project complete, and therefore another 12 snapshots of my three little ones captured. I think the biggest change this year has definitely come from Lilah, she has grown from a baby to a toddler right before our eyes! And although the change in the older two is a little more subtle, I know that they are both so much more grown up compared to how they were in January.

Despite having so many festive activities and outings in December, I actually hardly got my camera out at all. There's just been so much going on that I've been more 'in the moment' than behind the camera. Throw in everyone (apart from a very lucky Indiana) coming down with flu, it's made taking this month's pictures a little trickier too. These ones aren't the best quality or full of cheesy smiles, but I love them all the same. My three festive pj wearing crazies!

And of course now that another year of Siblings Project is over, I thought I'd share my favourite photos from the last 12 months. As I mentioned previously I don't think I'll be joining in every month next year, but definitely follow me on Instagram to watch these three grow with my #threelittlepeachicks hashtag!

The Siblings Project | November 2019

18.11.19

I absolutely love the photos we got of our three little Peachicks for this month's Siblings Project post. They are so natural and joyous - and were actually a breeze to capture for once too! Taken on one of our many woodland walks this month, I love that they really capture the beauty of Autumn too.

It's crazy to look back on November's Siblings Project post from last year, as they have all grown so so much since then. Lilah was just a little dot in her buggy unable to walk, and now she's able to run alongside the big two. Parker is now grown up and at school (although still able to fit into that puddle suit). And Indiana is just about to turn 6, smashing school, with almost 3 lost teeth and nearly as tall as me! The three of them are such a team now, playing and exploring together, and of course bickering between the three of them constantly too.

I have contemplated stopping sharing these Siblings Project posts on my blog from next year. With the three of them growing up (and running off in three different directions), it's becoming so much harder to take the photo, let alone find the time to sit and write up the post. Of course I will keep posting regular photos of them over on my Instagram, but I think I'll keep these posts to maybe a round up throughout the year instead.

Of course I will complete this year of photos, especially as December is such an exciting month with lots to capture! Indiana turns 6 in just over a week, we have all of the Christmas celebrations and then it's not long until little Lilah turns 2 either. I absolutely love this time of year, and I cannot wait to enjoy (nearly) every moment with this little trio of mine.

The Siblings Project | October 2019

14.10.19

I'm not quite sure where those weeks went between my last Siblings Project post and now... the year is absolutely flying! We took these pictures while out of a little woodland walk Sunday afternoon (when the rain eventually stopped for longer than 5 minutes), and they instantly reminded me of these ones from a few years ago. It's crazy to see how much Indiana and Parker have grown since then.. and that they now have an almost 2 year old little sister!

We've had another relatively quiet month, with the weeks being taken up by school and clubs still. But it's just a week until half term, and I'm not sure who is more excited? I can really tell Parker is ready for the end of term now. He is learning so much at the moment, so he's absolutely exhausted by the time 3pm comes around. Indie has had a really busy term with more structured learning and work to do, so I think she'll really enjoy a little break (although she loves school, so I'm sure she'll be raring to go back!).

Jack is off for half term week, so we have lots of exciting halloween themed activities and days out planned. I just have everything crossed that the rain stays away for at least a few days, as it's really dampening our spirits at the moment!

An Interview with my Five Year Old | Indiana at 5 and 3/4!

30.9.19

This is my third year asking Indiana these questions (you can read her interview at age 3 and age 4 here), and you can just see how grown up and mature she is becoming now. Why do children have to grown up so faaaaaast?!

What’s the best thing about being 5?

I get to play with my friends!

What makes you laugh?

Being doing funny things!

Who do you love, and why?

Amelie, mummy, daddy, Lilah, Belle and Parker! Because they play with me.

What’s your favourite book?

Books about Winnie the Witch!

What's your favourite food?

Chilli!

What's your favourite song?

Greatest Showman songs!

What's your favourite outfit?

Clothes and dressing up!

What's your favourite TV programme?

Wallace and Gromit!

What's your favourite toy?

I like colouring!

What's your favourite thing to do?

Go to school!

The Siblings Project | September 2019

23.9.19

September has been a month of change in the Peacock household. After the long summer holidays Indiana went back to school, skipping into year one to see all of her friends and new teacher. Parker started his very own school journey, and has actually just completed his first full week! He's absolutely loving it (so far), although we're definitely suffering with the after school crankiness and he's ridiculously tired already. Help!

And even though Lilah hasn't got any big milestones just yet, it's the first time it's going to be just me and her for most of the week. I'm already loving having quality time with her, and have promised to go to at least one group with her a week. An idea that probably sounds simple, but actually seems a little scary for me, and I've never really done any with them before!

With the three of them being apart most of the day now. it is so lovely to see them all together in the evenings. Lilah already understands that we have to go and get the big two in the afternoons, and will shout 'Parker! Nana!' until we go out the door - it's unbelievably cute. Although saying that, the bickering and squabbling hasn't really stopped at all. So they can't miss each other that much!

The Siblings Project | August 2019

21.8.19

My goodness getting these siblings pictures is hard work these days! Getting all three to stand still long enough, and to look at the camera AT THE SAME TIME is practically impossible. But I'm going to keep trying for as long as I can, because I love having these monthly photos to look back on and remember. This month's pictures were taken on my birthday trip to Colchester Zoo (the pig they're sitting on stopped them running away, hooray!), and although they're not taken on the big camera or have them all looking, I really love them!

We're now onto week four of the Summer holidays, and the best way to probably describe our household at the moment is chaotic. Those first few weeks were so, so hard having all three of them at home. It was incredibly intense (especially as we were all ill during the heatwave), and with Jack working long days / weeks, it was hard to find any breathing space.

These last few weeks I feel we've settled into our groove a bit more though. Embracing allll the lazy mornings snuggled in my bed, deciding what we're going to do at the last minute so there's less rushing around, and actually enjoying each others company! The older two have actually wanted to play together, instead of fighting constantly, which has made for much easier days. And as difficult as these 6 weeks are, I already know I'm going to miss having them all around when school starts. Especially as Parker starts school this year... sob!

The Siblings Project | July 2019

17.7.19

What a difference a year makes huh?

A year ago Lilah was just 6 months old, a teeny tiny squish between her brother a sister. And now? She's just turned 18 months and is just as crackers as the other two! I absolutely love the dynamic between the three of them at the moment though. Of course the squabbles and fights are still as full on as ever, but they are so fiercely protective of each other too.

Indie has absolutely loved showing Parker around her school and telling him what to expect come September. Proudly telling everyone that 'my brother Parker is in *** class!' I'm still not sure he gets that he won't see her every day when he does start, but it's reassuring that they have each other around the school in general. I just know they'll have each others backs over the years - because you know that no one else is allowed to hurt the other but them right?

And then there's our not so little Lilah, who is quickly learning that whatever they can do, she can usually do better... help! For example, a few weekends ago the big two were climbing a hugeee dirt hill, when Lilah ran over and climbed to the top nearly just as fast. No hesitations. No fear. Just the biggest grin on her face that she was joining in with the big kids. I just know she's going to be trouble.

Why I Love Being a Mum of Three | AD

18.6.19

Sponsored by SMA® Nutrition.

Growing up I always knew I wanted to have children; I would picture myself with two little girls and I even had them named I was that convinced! But after we had our bigger two (and we had both agreed we were done), there seemed to be a little part of our family missing. I didn't feel done having babies at all... and so came Lilah, our third little baby and most definitely the final piece of our family puzzle!

When I was expecting Lilah, I had so many people tell us we were crazy to add a third child to the family though.

"You'll need a bigger car / house!"

"Ooh you're brave!"

"Third labours are the worst you know!”

Lilah has now been a part of our family for over a year now, and I have to say, having a third baby has been the easiest (and loveliest) transition of all! Of course everyone has different experiences, and this is just ours, but I would do Lilah's pregnancy, labour and first year again in a heartbeat.

I was a young first time mum when Indiana was born, and I think I worried about every single moment of her first year. And apart from my mum and my sister, I had hardly any support from anyone either. I really wish I had been aware of SMA Careline® when she was born, as it would have been exactly what I needed!

Parker was born just 20 months later, and although the age gap was close, I felt completely different heading into motherhood this time around. I had the most empowering drug-free water birth, and had a more positive attitude towards breastfeeding this time. Of course two under two had its difficult moments, but I still believe it was (and still is!) such a lovely age gap.

So when Lilah was born, both Jack and I felt so much more confident. We had the knowledge of raising two babies behind us, as well as the support from family, friends and online support systems such as the SMA Careline®. Their live chat is available 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, where you can chat to their experts (who have over 20 years of experience!), regarding anything pregnancy, baby or toddler related.

The most special part of Lilah growing up as a third baby though, has definitely been watching her with Indiana and Parker. There is undoubtedly nothing more special than sibling relationships - and she couldn't ask for a better brother and sister! They have always been so helpful, and loved that they could help feed her. We introduced SMA® PRO Follow-on Milk to complement her weaning diet when she turned 6 months, right up until her first birthday. Did you know that at 6 months babies develop so quickly that their need for iron increases? SMA® PRO Follow-on Milk is enriched with iron to help support normal cognitive development in a baby’s brain. It also contains Omega 3 & 6† and iodine to help support normal growth, so we felt happy that Lilah was in good hands, as we began to wean her onto a more varied diet.

As a third child, Lilah just slotted into our family perfectly, and it was so much easier to create a routine with her as she just settled into the one we already had with the other two! So although three children may not have been in my plans when I was younger, I honestly wouldn't change our family dynamics for the world now!

Do you have more than one child?
How did each experience differ for you?

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Breast milk is best for babies and breastfeeding should continue for as long as possible. SMA® PRO Follow-on Milk is for babies over 6 months, as part of a varied weaning diet. Not intended to replace breastfeeding.

The Siblings Project | June 2019

16.6.19

It's funny how time works isn't it? It feels like only yesterday I was writing up May's siblings project post, but at the same time a lifetime ago that we took those pictures. We've managed to squeeze in so much since then, including of course our magical holiday to Disneyland Paris. So there was no way this month's sibling's project was not going to include Mickey ears or the castle!

The bond between our three seems to have grown even more since our holiday. Lilah has learnt to say Parker and Indie (in her own super cute way of course), and will shout for them constantly to come and play. All three of them will snuggle up in our bed or on the sofa after school too, with Lilah always squeezed in-between her big brother and sister like a little sandwich filler. Everything is currently crossed that this love between them continues over the Summer holidays...

This month Indiana lost her very first tooth, which was an exciting moment for the whole family it seems. Parker was probably just as excited to see whether the tooth fairy had come as she was! I love that as they are so close in age Parker gets to see what exciting moments to are to come for him. This is especially true right now as he starts his transition to big school. Having watched Indie do the exact same thing this past year he (currently) has zero fear or worries, and would probably skip into school merrily right now if he could. Indie has been really supportive too, telling him all about what to expect and what he has to do. I just hope that he takes to school as well as she did come September!

The Siblings Project | May 2019

Another May siblings project post, and of course another visit to the bluebells! I love looking back of these posts over the years - I mean, just look at how the big two have grown since our first hunt for bluebells 3 years ago! This years trip was probably my favourite yet. Watching all three of them exploring the woods, and climbing fallen tress amongst the beautiful flowers.

This month has been an extra exciting one for our three little loves. After discussing getting a cat for as long as I can remember, we finally added a new little member to our family. Belle has been welcomed into our home with sooo much excitement and lots of love (although probably too much from Lilah), and I love that all four of them will get to grow up together.

Next month we have the most exciting surprise for the Littles, as we're off on our trip to Disneyland Paris. I cannot wait to watch all three of them soak up the magic again - especially now Lilah is not just a teeny baby - and enjoy quality time as a family again. Keep an eye out for plenty of Disney spam!

The Siblings Project | April 2019

15.4.19

We're half way through the Easter Holidays now, and amazingly we haven't had nearly as many arguments of bickering wars as I thought! This was most likely helped by Jack being home last week, and us actually being away on holiday. Everything is much more relaxed on a holiday right?

We had such a lovely time away though. It was definitely what we were all craving after busy weeks of school / work, and not much family time. I could tell Indiana needed a bit of down-time especially; the actual learning and work she's doing at school seems to have increased loads in the last few weeks! And Lilah absolutely loved having everyone at home with her to play with (although she wasn't so keen on sharing all the toys).

These photos were taken on our visit to Dunster Castle, and although the fake smiles are out in full force, I love them anyway! Indiana is looking SO grown up, Parker seems to have finally had a growth spurt (he's almost as tall as Indie now), and Lilah just looks super sweet in her little yellow wellies. And just look at the girls in their matching coats... how did I get so lucky?

The Siblings Project | March 2019

23.3.19

I'm not going to lie, three little ones aged 5 and under can be incredibly tough sometimes - especially now they are three little people, not two and a baby! Getting anything done on time is becoming especially tricky, let alone getting all three to look at the camera and not run away (hence why this post is almost two weeks late..).

But of course there are so many wonderful moments too, especially now that Lilah is developing her own little personality. She is developing such lovely bonds with Indiana and Parker now, and I can really tell how much she misses them being around when they're at school and preschool. I can tell she has an extra soft spot for Parker though - most likely because he's around her a little bit more than Indie. She loves to give him huuuge hugs and lots of kisses, and I can tell her absolutely loves it too.

The big two however, are still in the rather exhausting 'love / hate' relationship stage. They both tell us how much they miss each other when they're apart, but argue and wind each other up constantly when together. Thankfully most of the time when we're out somewhere, like the park of soft play, they are best friends again. I just wish they could keep it up when at home - and I reallllly hope Lilah doesn't get involved as she gets older. Help!
