The Siblings Project | April 2019

15.4.19

We're half way through the Easter Holidays now, and amazingly we haven't had nearly as many arguments of bickering wars as I thought! This was most likely helped by Jack being home last week, and us actually being away on holiday. Everything is much more relaxed on a holiday right?

We had such a lovely time away though. It was definitely what we were all craving after busy weeks of school / work, and not much family time. I could tell Indiana needed a bit of down-time especially; the actual learning and work she's doing at school seems to have increased loads in the last few weeks! And Lilah absolutely loved having everyone at home with her to play with (although she wasn't so keen on sharing all the toys).

These photos were taken on our visit to Dunster Castle, and although the fake smiles are out in full force, I love them anyway! Indiana is looking SO grown up, Parker seems to have finally had a growth spurt (he's almost as tall as Indie now), and Lilah just looks super sweet in her little yellow wellies. And just look at the girls in their matching coats... how did I get so lucky?

23.3.19

I'm not going to lie, three little ones aged 5 and under can be incredibly tough sometimes - especially now they are three little people, not two and a baby! Getting anything done on time is becoming especially tricky, let alone getting all three to look at the camera and not run away (hence why this post is almost two weeks late..).

But of course there are so many wonderful moments too, especially now that Lilah is developing her own little personality. She is developing such lovely bonds with Indiana and Parker now, and I can really tell how much she misses them being around when they're at school and preschool. I can tell she has an extra soft spot for Parker though - most likely because he's around her a little bit more than Indie. She loves to give him huuuge hugs and lots of kisses, and I can tell her absolutely loves it too.

The big two however, are still in the rather exhausting 'love / hate' relationship stage. They both tell us how much they miss each other when they're apart, but argue and wind each other up constantly when together. Thankfully most of the time when we're out somewhere, like the park of soft play, they are best friends again. I just wish they could keep it up when at home - and I reallllly hope Lilah doesn't get involved as she gets older. Help!

17.2.18

Another late Siblings post, but life is still a little bit crazy with three little ones to look after! It's crazy that Lilah has now been a part of our family for almost 5 weeks. They've been exhausting. They've been hectic. But my goodness have they been full of love!

We took this month's siblings project pictures on a rare sunny day at the beach. It was one of the best days out we've had in a long time (definitely helped by the warmer, sunny weather), so of course we wanted to capture the moment. Although they're not perfect - featuring the many faces of our cheeky little Parker - I'm definitely going to look back on them and remember the lovely day we had.

This last month has been a definite learning curve. With Jack back at work, I've had to learn to juggle all three. We've quickly found our groove though, and it's as if Lilah has been here forever already! Indie and Parker are both just as obsessed with her too, and constantly want to cover her in kisses and give her snuggles. It's so lovely, although I do wish they would give her a bit of space sometimes...

My big two have been on half term this last week, and although they've had some lovely moments playing together, we've had lots of arguments and bickering too. They are both at an age (4 and 2.5) where they need a little space from each other I think, so roll on the regular routine on Monday! Indie especially loves to play independently, and I think she easily gets annoyed when her little brother doesn't understand how to play.

Overall though, we've had a good month! They big two are settling into their new rolls nicely, and they've been coping pretty well with the change a new baby brings too. Parker was acting up a little in those first few weeks, but now I think it's more the terrible twos we're dealing with than jealously thankfully!

I'm still pinching myself that I have three little loves. A brother and his two sisters. How lucky am I?

The Siblings Project | December 2017

15.12.17

And just like that, another year of the Siblings Project is complete! I cannot believe just how much my two have grown this year. Not just in the obvious way that they're both looking huuuuge now. But with they're relationship too. They started the year not really knowing how to play together, and with Indie well and truly still the boss. But now they're very much on the same level - true partners in crime!

It wasn't until I was looking back on the year's photos, that I realised that we took almost identical ones for last December's post. Even down to the same Christmas duvet cover! With such awful weather in December though, and it most definitely being the month of snuggling at home, I think it really is the perfect photo setting.

We're still struggling with siblings squabbles and sharing issues this month. But honestly? I think that's just part of sibling life now. Most of the time they really are so lovely together.. so I think we're just going to have to embrace it, and take every day as it comes.

An exciting milestone this month though, is that we officially signed Parker up to start Indie's preschool in January. He'll only be going a couple of mornings a week, but he's already soo excited. Indie came along to his settling sessions, where she loved showing him around and introducing him to everyone. You could just see how proud she was that her baby brother was there, and it was just so lovely to watch!

I am oh so excited to share another year of Siblings pictures next year. Especially as January's picture could be the ones to include our littlest love! I have loved watched the relationship between Indie and Parker grown over the last 2.5 years. And I absolutely cannot wait to see how the dynamics are going to change when their baby sister arrives.

So I'll end with a round-up of this year's Siblings pictures, and here's to an even more exciting 2018!

The Siblings Project | September 2017

14.9.17

Has anyone else completely lost track of the dates recently, or is it just me? It wasn't until I saw someone else's Siblings post, that I realised I hadn't written mine. Let alone taken any pictures! Thankfully we had captured a few of our little duo this week anyway. So although they're not the perfect siblings photos I would have wanted, we're still here joining in!

This month has seen Indiana head back to preschool, and therefore Parker left without his sidekick for most of the week. Towards the end of summer they definitely got under each other's feet that little bit too much. The bickering and arguments were constant during that last week especially, and I think we were all grateful for the return of school.

But now we're a couple of weeks into the old routine, I think they've remembered how much they love playing together again. Parker is back to calling after Indie constantly, and running straight for cuddles when we pick her up. And she's willingly sharing and playing with him a lot more. I think this is the balance we definitely all need!

Both of them get the chance to play without the other getting involved - something that's so important as Indie wants to play things that are just too grown up for P. And they also both get the quality one-on-one time they need too.

I'm so excited for the next few months, especially as Autumn is my favourite season. We have a little trip away in just a few weeks, and then of course there's the fun of Halloween, Indie's birthday and Christmas. I have a feeling these weeks are going to fly by!
