36 Week Pregnancy Update | Baby #2

12.7.15

How is it just 1 more week until I'm classed as full term?! Thursday was the 9th making it just one more month until my due date, so it's a real countdown in days now (28 days to be exact haha). This week baby weighs almost 6lbs and is around 47cm long - close to the size of a romaine lettuce.

I'm seeing the midwife again tomorrow for my 36 week appointment, so hopefully baby is still head down. He's done a couple more HUGE movements this week which were bloody painful haha. Jack had his hand on my stomach and was laughing at how crazy it was. It was as if he was doing roly polys while also trying to dive out - ouch!

Nothing much is new this week, it's been pretty much exactly the same as last week; tired, uncomfortable, sciatic pain in my right bum cheek/leg, etc. I have noticed my moods have been a bit all over the place, more than usual. Indiana has really been testing my patience, and I've found myself snapping at her a lot more often. I hate doing it and as soon as it's happened I've got upset and feel awful. We've been enjoying lots of snuggles though and still gives 'baby' lots of kisses which I'm really going to miss.

I've finally purchased the last bits for my hospital bag, so I'll be packing that during the week - keep an eye out for the post. I definitely feel more relaxed than I did last time (there will be no ironing of the baby clothes haha), and I don't feel in a rush to get things done. I'm just enjoying the last bit of time with just Indiana before baby arrives, and making the most of her nap times haha.

With both my hen do, and Jack's stag do out of the way now it really is just countdown for baby. You're free to come whenever you like now little man!

26 Week Pregnancy Update | Baby #2

3.5.15

Another week has flown by and I can finally say I've had a week of feeling pretty good... YAY! Pip is now the size of a butternut squash and is gaining lots of fat this week (and apparently I'm going to be gaining a lot in the next few weeks too haha). He is around 36cm and weighs a little more than 760g.

After spending all of his time buried on the right hand side of my bump (and in my ribs) this week he actually finally moved! He's now been wiggling all over on both the left and right sides which suggests he's laying across my bump. It's been a lovely relief for my ribs and I even managed to capture some of those movements on camera too!

I have been a bit achy in places this week when walking long distances. I've noticed it's more when I walk to/from work than with the pram - it must add some support for my hips. I even had swollen feet on Sunday which I never experienced with my first pregnancy; they were not a pretty sight haha.

Another aching area - warning TMI coming up haha - is my downstairs. It really feels like there's pressure pushing against it a lot of time which is SO uncomfortable. I just generally feel swollen sometimes as if he's been kicking me 'down there' which again, is something I never experienced with Indiana.

Ending on a high this week I have officially booked and sorted my Maternity Leave! I've only got 6 weeks left at work before my annual leave starts on the 15th June, and then my actual leave starts on the 6th July. I can't believe I'll be finishing work next month, but I really think I need the time to prepare and enjoy quality time with Indiana before he arrives.

I can't believe I'm almost in the third trimester already; time is flying!

24 Week Pregnancy Update | Baby #2

19.4.15

24 weeks means we've hit V day! Viability means that if anything were to happen now and he had to be born, medical teams would do anything they could to try and save him. He's almost a foot long now - about the size of an ear of corn - and weighs more than 600 grams.

I started the week still with my headaches but they seem to have eased a bit now. I'm seeing the midwife on Wednesday so will definitely be mentioning them to her (a lot of people have mentioned them being linked to blood pressure).

Apart from that it's been a pretty good week! Here in Kent we had a mini heatwave on Tuesday and Wednesday and it was absolutely boiling. I got to wear my first maxi-dress with my bump and it was soo lovely to actually show it off (not that I can hide it any more haha). It was a bit too much for me though and I did have to hibernate indoors with plenty of drinks.
Braxton hicks have definitely stepped up recently I've noticed. They aren't painful - my whole belly just goes really tight and hard for a few minutes and then relaxes again. I've noticed I get them more if I've been walking a lot (to work for example) so have to really slow down to relax them.

Movement wise this baby boy is a right groover! According to my apps an anterior placenta usually means lighter movements, which are usually lower down and to the sides; and my uterus is only meant to be just above me belly button. I feel him ALL over though and recently he's been doing full body movements and sitting in my ribs - just like his big sister did!

Like I said I'm seeing the midwife on Wednesday just to get things checked over and to finally pick up my MatB1 form. Yay to getting maternity leave fully sorted! I'll let you know how that goes in my 25 week update next week.

23 Week Pregnancy Update | Baby #2

12.4.15

23 weeks means just one more week until our little pip is classed as viable and a person in his own right - yay! This week has been a mixture of good and bad and and I'm currently feeling like absolute rubbish hence why this and my video are up so late! Our little boy is now just over 500g, and the size of a grapefruit at 29cm long!

The week started off pretty special, Sunday was the first day Jack felt our little boy kick. I've been feeling him for weeks and have been watching him from the outside. But he finally got to feel him for himself after what seemed like ages haha.

The start of the week also brought achy boobs, cramping legs and exhaustion which wasn't so fun. I had my first proper leg cramp when I woke up Tuesday morning and almost cried in pain - Id forgotten how painful they are!

I'n currently suffering with the second severe headache this week too. I found it hard to keep my eyes open and function Wednesday, and I'm feeling pretty much the same today. 4Head and paracetamol haven't really done anything so it's lots of rest and drinks to try and help.

The only other strange symptom I've forgot to mention recently is that my leg hair seems to have stopped growing! I've heard other people mention it before but thought it was a bit odd, but it's pretty cool... Especially now the weathers getting warmer so I'll be having my legs out more haha!

Thank you to everyone who's been following my journey so far, I can't believe how quick this pregnancy is going!

22 Week Pregnancy Update | Baby #2

5.4.15

22 weeks pregnant today and our baby boy is the size of a spaghetti squash (seriously who comes up with these things haha), and weighs roughly 430g at 28cm long. He's a definite mover now and loves to have a wiggle about in the evenings when I'm relaxing. I feel properly pregnant now and I'm loving my maternity clothes again!

We finally had our 20 week scan this week, when I was actually 21+1 weeks pregnant. The scan was great and baby is perfectly happy and healthy. I have a high anterior placenta, and he had his head snuggled under my ribs haha. Everything she checked was fine and I loved how in-depth it was - oh and he's definitely a boy!
Only slight concern we have now is how big our baby boy is! His head measurements were off the chart and the rest were very near the top too haha. We reckon he'll be taking after Jack as all of his family are 6ft plus, but we'll have to wait and see (I'll definitely be asking the midwife what she thinks though when I next see her though).

The only new symptom this week is sensitive (and absolutely enormous haha) breasts. They seem to be growing everyday and I'll definitely be needed to invest in some new bras soon. Just brushing past them sends shivers down my spine too, something I never had with Indiana!

The most exciting thing we did this week was purchase our double pram! With Indiana only being 20 months when he's set to arrive, and me not driving it was a must. We've gone for the iCandy Peach 3 Blossom in Jet - thank god for my bonus this month is all I'll say haha!

I'm unfortunately back to work after 2 weeks off tomorrow, so I'm sure I'll be back to moaning again next week - it's definitely work causing havoc with my back! We'll see in my 23 update next week.
