8.6.22

Do you live in a home that requires some TLC? Are you considering renovating but are not sure if it is the right decision for you? If so, you have come to the right place! In this blog post I will be sharing the top reasons why you should consider renovating your home. From adding value to your property to improving your lifestyle, there are many benefits when you decide to remodel your house.

One of the main reasons people renovate their homes is to add value. Whether you're planning on selling your home in the near future or not, increasing its value is always a good idea. Home renovations can be a significant investment, and even minor projects can make a big difference when it comes time to sell. So if you're thinking about making some changes to your home, here are a few of the best ways to add value:

Update Your Kitchen

The kitchen is often one of the essential rooms in the house, and it's also one of the rooms that potential buyers will pay close attention to. However, if your kitchen is outdated or needs repair, investing in a renovation can be a great way to add value to your home.

Add or Update Bathrooms

Like the kitchen, bathrooms are another critical selling point for potential buyers. Consider renovating your bathroom before putting your home on the market if your bathroom needs an update. Adding a bathroom can also be a great way to increase the value of your home.

Finish your Basement

Finishing a basement can be a great way to add extra living space and value to your home. If you have an unfinished basement, finishing it with drywall, flooring, and lighting can make it much more appealing to potential buyers.

Damp Proofing

It is an essential factor to consider when renovating your home as it prevents moisture from being able to seep through the walls and causing damage; look here. By ensuring that your walls are damp proof, you can avoid costly repairs in the future. Damp-proof your home, and you will add value, make it more comfortable to live in and improve its appearance.

Paint Your Home

A fresh coat of paint can do wonders for the value of your home. If your walls look dingy or outdated, painting them can be a cheap and easy way to give your home an updated look.

Updating your Home's Look can be Fun and Rewarding

Before you get started on a home renovation it's essential to understand why you want to renovate. Is it simply to update the look of your home or address specific maintenance issues? Or are you planning to sell soon and want to boost your home's value? Perhaps you have a growing family and need more space. Whatever your reasons, knowing your motivation from the outset will help ensure a smooth and successful renovation process. Here are just a few of the many reasons why renovating your home can be such a rewarding experience:

  • It can increase your home's value. Whether you're planning to sell now or down the road, a well-executed home renovation can significantly boost your home's resale value.
  • It can make your home more comfortable and functional. If you're renovating to address specific issues like a leaky roof or drafty windows, you'll immediately notice a difference in your day-to-day comfort. And if you add features like an extra bathroom or a mudroom, you'll appreciate the added convenience daily.
  • It can help you save money in the long run. Energy-efficient upgrades like new windows and insulation make your home more comfortable, and they can also save you money on your energy bills month after month.
  • It can give you a much-needed break from your everyday routine. If you're working with a professional home renovation company, they will take care of the day-to-day details of your project so you can sit back and enjoy the transformation of your home.
  • It can be an opportunity to express your creativity. A home renovation is a perfect time to let your inner design diva loose! Whether you're planning a complete gut job or just updating fixtures and finishes, this is your chance to put your stamp on your living space.

In conclusion, there are several reasons to renovate your home. Whether you're looking to save money, increase your home's value, or simply express your creativity, a home renovation can be a great way to achieve your goals. Just be sure to consult with a professional before getting started to ensure the success of your project.

5 Ways to Maximise Profit when Selling your Home

31.5.23

Maximising the profit from the sale of your home is easier and more possible than you might think. If you wish to renovate your home and make it a place you feel is ready to sell for maximum profit, here are some top tips.

Deep Cleaning

It helps to deep clean your entire property so that it is ready to sell and for people to look around. Getting to the hard-to-reach places can prove tricky and dangerous - like the gutters and roofs. It might be a better idea to call in roof gutter cleaning experts for this job, so you can ensure the best results for the deep cleaning of your home. They will provide a safe procedure for cleaning your gutters and ensure the rest of your property remains safe and clean while performing the cleaning.

Instead of putting your safety at risk and risk damaging your home when deep cleaning its exterior, it is best to leave it to the professionals too. After the deep cleaning of the exterior is complete, you should move on to the inside of the home. Deep cleaning of every section of your home will ensure it is ready to sell and will boost buyers' interest. If they can move into a space that is clean and ready, it will encourage them to offer you the asking price, or close to it.

Make it More Sustainable

Another way to maximise the profit from selling your home is to make it more sustainable. Many buyers are looking for places that are kinder to the planet and more cost-effective. The more sustainability measures that are in place, the more affordable bills will be.

For instance, installing solar panels on the property will help to reduce energy bills, as they will generate electricity. This will help you enjoy cheaper bills and also encourage the new buyers to invest more in their purchase, as the features you have added will increase the value of the home.

Assess the Market

A great way to ensure that you market your home for the right price is to assess the market. Looking at other property prices will help you understand how much you can value your home for. If you try to sell your home for more than others, you might lose interest. Or, you might not get anywhere near your asking price. Furthermore, if you sell for a lower price, you will hinder your potential profit. Therefore, ensure to take time to assess the market so that you can price your property competitively and for maximum profit.

Focus on the Curb Appeal

Focusing on the curb appeal of your property will ensure maximising profit. For instance, having a home that appears clean and well-kept will guarantee to boost the interest of buyers. They will see your home and notice your maintenance efforts, which will likely be a reflection of the inside of your home. Hence, buyers will be intrigued and willing to pay more as you have kept the place in great condition, meaning they have less work to do.

Some simple ways to boost your home’s curb appeal include:
  • Refreshing the flowers. Having plenty of color and life outside your home will guarantee to make it look more appealing. Therefore, refreshing the flowers and ensuring they are lively will boost the appearance of your home.
  • Painting. Repainting features on the outside of your property will ensure maximise the home’s attractiveness. Refreshing the door and fences will help the home look clean and fresh, ready for new people to move in.
These simple measures will guarantee to boost the appeal of your home, which can influence buyers to pay more.

Negotiate

Most buyers will offer a lower price than what you ask for. It is normal and a great way for buyers to get a discount. If they want to negotiate, ensure to negotiate back. If a buyer offers a low price, you can go back to them with a higher rate and hopefully, they will say yes. You will always manage to get a bit more money out of people if you negotiate and offer them a price that is lower than the asking price, yet higher than their first offer.

Ensure to avoid going too low with your offer as it could hinder your profit margin. There will always be the chance to sell to someone else, that will offer more money. Therefore, it helps to be patient and have a minimum sale price to ensure you still attain a good profit.

Good luck with selling your home!

3 Ideas for the Ultimate Home Revamp

30.9.19

For most of us home is indeed where the heart is, as we often tend to use our homes as an extension of our personality. And then as we adapt and change we often find we make small changes to our home. In this post though, I'm going to be sharing some of the more significant changes you can make to your home, to give it the ultimate revamp.

The Walls and Lights
One of the biggest changes we can make to our home, is to the walls and lights. Getting them exactly right for the feel of your home is so important! Firstly, paying attention to how important natural light is to your home is an essential step. Natural light interacts with your home, and can therefore make a room feel completely different. If you have large windows, you can afford to go slightly darker with the colours of your walls, as they will allow more light into the property.

If you aren’t blessed with larger windows or a particularly large house, there is no reason to fret though. Having the wall on the opposite side of the window, a clean and bright color will help distribute the light more evenly. A great trick to give the illusion of more space is to put up a large mirror - having a large mirror on the opposing wall will reflect the light in the room, making it feel much bigger and brighter.

The Floors
One thing that will certainly give your home its edge is the flooring. You could have a perfectly decorated and accessorised home, but if the flooring is bad, it won't look it's best! There are a two options when it comes to flooring - revamp or replace. If revamping is your preference, this can give your home the ultimate edge. Companies like Brisbane Timber Floors can give you that one of a kind look you have been searching for.

If you want to replace completely, just remember that a carpet isn't always the only choice. Wood flooring in the home adds a certain sense of elegance and luxury. They are much easier to upkeep as well, as things can be wiped up easily or covered with a well placed rug. Perfect if you have young children!

Accessorises
One of the most under-appreciated things in revamping the home, is just how valuable the right accessories are. We are not just thinking of pictures and plants either, there are little things you should pay attention to as well, such as light switches, light fittings, plug sockets, and most importantly, any wood you have around the home.

If there is one thing that can age a property its the coloring of the wood in the home. Darker woods are nowadays very outdated and can age a home. So it might be time to update these, or add brighter accessories to complement these areas. When looking at light switches and fittings, getting this right is incredibly important too. Placing copper fittings around a thoroughly modern, bright, and edgy home wouldn't look right at all - it's all about finding the right style for you.

How to Create a Safe and Healthy Home Environment for your Family

21.4.23

As a parent, being concerned about your child's well-being is natural. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), an estimated 48 million people in the United States get sick from food-borne illnesses every year, and children under 5 are at a higher risk of developing severe complications from contaminated food. Thus, a safe and healthy home environment is essential for a child's overall wellness. In this post will I am going to share various ways to make your home a safe and healthy haven for your children, to hopefully give you some helpful tips an advice.

Keep your Home Clean and Clutter-Free

One of the easiest ways to ensure a healthy home environment for your kids is by keeping your home clean and clutter-free. Regularly vacuuming and dusting will help eliminate allergens and reduce the spread of germs. Use natural cleaning products that are free from harmful chemicals and toxins.

Keeping your home clean and clutter-free can create a comfortable and inviting safe space for your children. It can also save you time and money by preventing the need for costly repairs or replacements due to neglect or damage caused by clutter too.

Ensure Proper Ventilation

Proper ventilation is critical for maintaining good air quality in your home. Opening windows and doors can help fresh air circulate, but it may not be enough sometimes. Installing exhaust fans in your bathrooms and kitchen can remove excess moisture and prevent mold growth, especially in areas with high humidity.

Did you know that poor indoor air quality can cause respiratory problems such as asthma, especially in children? That's why it's crucial to improve ventilation in your home. Additionally, using an air purifier can be helpful in areas with high outdoor pollution levels. This will help remove harmful pollutants from the air and ensure a healthy environment for your children.

Keep your Home Pest-Free

A pest-free home is crucial for a healthy and safe environment. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, asthma affects 6.2 million children in the United States, and exposure to pests, such as cockroaches and rodents, can exacerbate their symptoms. It is essential to keep your home pest-free to reduce the risk of asthma and other health issues in children.

Therefore, if you notice a pest problem, quickly eliminate it using quick pest control solutions, such as hiring a professional team. Hiring a skilled team can be beneficial as they have the right tools and skills to stop further infestation. Don't wait. Pests can pose a significant health risk to your family.

Create a Safe Play Area

Use childproof gates to block off stairs and other hazardous areas. Install soft floorings, such as carpet or foam tiles, in your child's playroom to cushion falls, and keep small toys and objects out of reach of young children to prevent choking hazards.

Supervise your children during playtime to ensure they are safe and not engaging in risky behaviour. Remember, accidents can happen anywhere, so always be vigilant and take the necessary precautions to prevent injuries.

Ensure Proper Lighting

Adequate lighting is essential for maintaining a safe and comfortable home environment for your children. Bright and energy-efficient lighting in play areas and homework zones can prevent accidents caused by poor visibility. In addition, a well-lit home creates a welcoming ambiance for children and adults. Night lights in your child's room can also provide a soothing atmosphere and prevent tripping hazards in the dark.

Consider using smart lighting systems that allow you to adjust the brightness and colour temperature of the lights. With proper lighting, your child's room and the rest of your home can be a comfortable and safe space for them to grow and thrive.

Install Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors

These detectors are essential safety devices that can save lives. Install them on every level of your home, including inside and outside each bedroom. Choose interconnected detectors so that if one alarm goes off, all alarms will sound. Make sure to test them monthly too, to ensure they're working correctly, and replace batteries annually. It's also essential to replace the detectors every ten years.

In addition, make sure everyone in your home knows what the alarms sound like and what to do if they hear them. With these simple steps, you can help protect your family from the dangers of smoke and carbon monoxide.

4 Home Improvements that Add Value to your Home

22.3.20

When you own your own home one of the goals that people often have is to add value to it where they can. Whether it’s to make sure it’s a solid investment, make you home more to your taste or to try and climb the property ladder, there are certain improvements that you can make that add value to your home. In this post I am going to share 4 of the ways you can make a difference in your home.

Walls
When you decorate each room you should make it a focus to treat your walls to a little love and attention. Having smooth walls that are in good condition make your home much more appealing, easier to decorate and it adds value. So each time you decorate a room take a little bit of time to smooth over any dents, treat any mould and give it a coat of paint first. If you want to put wallpaper up, it's also a good idea to have them completely skimmed, to make them smooth and feeling brand new. If you do it room by room, you will soon have all the walls in your home complete.

Windows and Doors
Having new windows and doors installed is a great and easy way to add value to your home. It will make your home look fresher and newer, as well as making your home more energy-efficient. There are plenty of options with door installation - you could even have a sliding door in place of an existing window to open up your home to the outdoors. Doing this can make your home feel bigger and extend your living space in the summer too, by allowing you to have the doors open up to an outside seating area.

Attic Space
Although this may be a little costly, the value you can add to your home definitely outweighs the cost. Most commonly an attic conversion is usually used to create a master bedroom with ensuite and wardrobe/storage space (which then leaves the existing bedrooms to be used for children). Adding a conversion to your home means that you are appealing to a wider range of buyers, and you are also creating a great space to use rather than it been wasted space. You could even use the extra room that you have freed up as an office space or playroom.

Kitchen and Bathroom
These rooms are very well-known for adding value to a house. A brand new kitchen or bathroom suite can be expensive to install. You can save a bit of money by buying second hand, or getting a family member or friend to install for you. Having modern utilities if you plan to stay in your home will make your life more comfortable, and you are also appealing to buyers if you want to sell in the future.

Have you done any projects that have added value to your house?

7 Tips to Help Buy Your First Home!

2.7.18

For a lot of people, the very idea of being able to buy their own home is nothing more than a fantasy. After all, over the last few decades both the cost of living, and the price of many homes have skyrocketed. Not to mention the increased difficulty in getting a mortgage!

This leaves many people in the position of wanting to own their own home, but being forced to either rent or to keep living with their parents, because it feels as though buying a property simply isn't possible. But the truth is, things might not be as hopeless as you first think. Of course buying a home is going to be far from easy, but that doesn't make it impossible! With that in mind, here are 7 tips to help you towards that dream house.

Photo by Sylvie Tittel on Unsplash

1. Do your research

One of the biggest mistakes that you can make, is to push forward with the process of buying a home, without really knowing what it is that you're getting in for. If you don't do enough research, then you're almost certainly going to end up in a position where there are fees that you didn't consider, complications that you weren't aware of, or you didn't realise how much time the whole process was going to take.

If you're serious about buying your own home, you need to do as much research as possible (well in advance) before taking the next step. There are hundreds of blog posts and articles online that can provide you with pretty much every single piece of information that you could possibly need. Or why not turn to your parents or friends who have been through the process for advice.

2. Find the best mortgage deals

Your biggest concern when it comes to buying you're a home, is almost certainly going to be the mortgage itself. A mortgage is mostly likely going to be the most significant piece of debt that you'll ever find yourself dealing with. Luckily, there are companies out there who are able to help you find the best possible mortgage deals though - so that you not only save yourself money, but so you are in a better position to actually apply for the mortgage in the first place.

3. Learn to compromise

When a lot of people say that they can't buy a home, what they actually mean is that they're not in a position to buy their perfect home. Now, the idea of being your forever home is a wonderful one and something that most people imagine when buying their first property. However, the reality is that unless you're in an incredibly comfortable financial position, that's just not something that you're going to be able to do.

Instead, why not think about the benefits of getting your foot on the property ladder in the first place. Your first home might not be where you want to spend the rest of your life, but it gets you onto the ladder, and makes buying other properties in the future a much more realistic proposition.

Find a property that ticks most, if not all, of your boxes while still falling within a reasonable price range. Things like the location of your property can make a huge difference. If you look at properties in Malaysia then you’ll find that you can find a great deal of properties that offer a huge amount of quality at a much lower budget. Then you can spend the next few years saving for a bigger or better property, while also adding value to your current house.

4 - Look for property alternative

While you might have your heart set on a beautiful house, an apartment could save you a lot of money while still providing you with a spacious and attractive home. Or maybe you'd like to go even further outside of the box. Instead of taking out a huge mortgage on a house, why not spend a lot less on something like a houseboat or a van? Now, this most certainly isn't going to be the life for everyone, but for those who want to be able to move around more regularly than if they had to buy and sell their homes every time, something like this has a lot of benefits.

5 - Look ahead to the future

If you're saying "I can't afford to buy a house", there's a good chance that what you mean is "I can't afford to buy the house I want right now." As similar as they might seem, it's important to remember that those two statements mean very different things!

If you're feeling discouraged by the idea of never being able to afford a home, remember that your financial situation now is not necessarily going to be the same as your financial situation in the future. You might even want to start thinking about the kinds of career decisions that you need to make, in order to make it more likely that you're going to be able to afford your own home further down the line.

6 - Start saving now

One of the very best things that you can do when it comes to being able to afford your own home, is to start saving your money right now. If you start saving now, even if the idea of buying a home is one that you're not even close to thinking about, you're going to make it a whole lot easier when the time does come. Having the money that you need for a deposit set aside will make everything easier on you in the long run.

7 - Don't let anyone put pressure on you

Trying to buy a house can often feel like an incredibly intimidating process, to the point where it can be pretty overwhelming. One of the most important things is to remember though, is that you should never let anyone try to pressure you into anything. Your estate agent might try and push specific solicitors on you, or encourage you to spend money in ways that don't make sense to you. If you are told you that you have to do something a certain way, go away and do some research. You may find that you can get better deals elsewhere, or that they are simply trying to unfairly squeeze money out of you.

The reality of buying a home is that it can be a long, complicated, and often deeply frustrating process. But by following some of these tips, you can hopefully make the process that little bit easier, and even make that dream home yours sooner than you think!

Easy Ways to Personalise your First Home!

3.12.18

Living in a rented property can sometimes be a bit impersonal. Landlords have a lot of rules about what you can and can’t do to the house, and most won’t let you paint the walls, let alone put up any pictures. You never quite feel at home because you can’t put your own stamp on the place. But when you finally buy your first family home, you’ve finally got the chance to make it your own. Now that the house is actually yours, you can do whatever you like with it - so don’t hold back. Today I'm going to share some easy ways that you can personalise your first home!

Hang Some Photos
Family photos are the ideal way to personalise your home. Get some of your favourites printed out professionally, and take them to a picture framing company to get them displayed properly. Remember, it’s your house so you can drill into the walls wherever you like and put the pictures up. Just don’t go overboard and cover every surface with photos, because you might regret it later. Put up a few in the living room and some in the hallways, and the house will start to feel a little more like home in no time.

Paint the Exterior
The easiest way to change the entire look of the house is to paint the exterior. It’s also a good idea if the house is an older property, because a new coat of exterior paint will give it a bit more protection against the weather. Chances are it’s currently a bit of a neutral colour, so why not paint it again in a more interesting colour? If you think painting the entire house is a too bigger job, you can still give the outside of the house a bit of a lift if you just paint the front door instead. The door is like the centrepiece of the exterior of the house, so if you paint it in a bright, eye catching colour, it’ll make a big difference!

If the house has nice wooden windows, that’s another simple detail that you can change. The window frames will really stick out if you paint them in an interesting colour so don’t limit yourself to a boring brown or black. Just make sure that it still goes well with the rest of the exterior colour, especially if you’re leaving it as it is.

Swap out Fixtures
If you don’t like the bathroom or the kitchen in your new house, you could rip the whole thing out and replace it all. But that’s going to be pretty expensive! You can still update the bathroom and the kitchen in the mean time though, by swapping out the fixtures. Replacing the taps, or the handles on the toilet will cost a fraction of the price, but jazz up the room. Just make sure that you’re matching the new fixtures with the rest of the decor if you aren’t making any more changes.

Have a Good Clean
The smell in your home makes a big difference, and it’ll make you feel more at home if it smells just like your old place did. Give the house a thorough deep clean before you move in, to make it feel fresh and more like your own home. If you use the same products you used in your old house, it will make your new home feel more like yours!

Change the Light Shades
The light shades are an accessory that people usually underestimate. You don’t notice them that much when you’re walking around the home, but if you’ve got interesting ones they can make all of the difference. Why not replace the current fittings with something more exciting? The right light fixture can be a great centrepiece in a room and it’s a simple way to inject a bit of your own personality into the room.

If you’re going for a more rustic decor style around your home, you could take the light shade off entirely and put in some vintage effect light bulbs instead. That stripped back look works great in a room that has a very traditional feel.

Get Inventive with Colour on the Walls
If you’ve been living in rented properties for a while, you’re probably fed up with cream coloured walls. It's great for keeping a property neutral, but it's also soo dull! But there are no limits with your own home, so you can do whatever you like. Feature walls with bold patterned wallpaper or even a mural are a great way to completely revitalise a room and make it your own.

When you’re picking colours from the room, you need to consider the function of the space because different colours are best suited to different activities. If you’re painting the living room then something like red probably isn’t best, because it’s not a very relaxing colour. And if you’re painting a home office, you should go for blues and yellows because they encourage focus and creativity. Just make sure to have a good think before jumping into painting walls crazy colours!

Accessories
A lot of people get rid of a lot of unwanted items when they’re moving house. But make sure to keep some items though, because you can use some of them in the new place. Anything that has personal memories attached to it (like small ornaments that you bought on holiday) are ideal for personalising your home. Be careful not to make areas too cluttered though, just pick a few select pieces that are special to you and your family, and dot them around the house.

Get Everybody Involved
Your home should be a reflection of your family, and the best way to achieve that is to let everybody pitch in and make decisions about how to decorate it. Have the whole family come along when you’re picking the colour schemes and furniture for the house, choose family photos together before you put them up on the wall, and let your little ones have a say in designing their own rooms. If you do it this way, you’ll get a bit of the personality of each family member in the home and it’ll all tie together brilliantly.

Home Improvements to Make Home Work Better for You

21.2.23

There are certain improvements that you can make to your home so that it works better for you. Of course, this is going to be personal to different families, so you shouldn’t be comparing your home to someone else’s as they may have different needs. But in this post I'm going to be taking a look at some of the home improvements that you can make to make your home work better for you.

Somewhere for your Car

The first thing that we’re going to look at is somewhere to keep the cars so that they are not constantly being battered by the elements. It might not seem like an issue, but it can be over time, so you’re best making sure that you have somewhere to keep your cars. For example, you might want to keep your car inside the garage if you have one, but if you don’t then you are going to need to get creative.

You can always consider adding a carport or a canopy to your home so that your cars have an undercover area to live. Look into things like an evolution canopy and make sure that you completely understand all of your options before you add one to your home.

Add a Conservatory

Another thing that we recommend is that you look into adding a conservatory to your home if you have the space. Of course, some people don’t have any room to expand their home, and if this is the case then this isn’t going to be an option for you. However, if you do have the space and the money, then this is a great way to add some more space to your home. You can use this as a lovely area to sit with everyone and spend time with them, or if there is a specific purpose that you can think of that you want to use it for.

A New Kitchen

The last thing that we’re going to say is that you should look into a complete new kitchen. Sometimes the kitchen that you have right now is completely outdated and cooking in it isn’t fun. Or, if the kitchen is old and the design is no longer suitable for your needs, then you need to rip the entire thing out and get a new one. It isn’t cheap to do, but it’s going to be well worth every penny that you spend when you’re seeing the results that you need.

I really hope that you have found this article helpful, and now see some of the home improvements that you can make your home work better for you. It’s important that you are doing everything in your power to make your home work for you as best you can so that you and your family can live comfortably.

8 Top Tips for Working from Home

28.9.22

Since 2020 more and more people have made the switch to working from home. Not only does this allow employees to strike a better balance between their work and personal life due to more flexible hours. But it also avoids unnecessary commuting that saves precious time and it can increase productivity, reduce distractions and increase the level of job satisfaction. However, working from home can also become a great challenge for those who have never done remote work, since it involves taking on new responsibilities and demands being able to efficiently self-manage.

So if this is you, hopefully this post will help you, as I share 8 top tips to be productive while working from home!

Set Office Hours

Although it may be tempting not to set the alarm clock, if you want to be productive you need to stick to a schedule. Since you will be working with other people and you will have to respond to emails, be present in the corporate chat or answer video calls, it is important that you adjust your workday to your company’s working hours. Setting office hours will also help protect your personal life and prevent teleworking from ending up consuming every minute of your day.

Set up a Work-Only Space

To work productively from home, the best thing to do is to separate work and leisure spaces. If you have an office, it will be easier for you to adapt and focus. It is important that you set up this space so that you feel comfortable. Remember that working in a pleasant and orderly environment will increase your productivity. If you can’t turn a room in your home into an office, at least make sure to use a desk. Avoid lying on the sofa and working because your productivity will plummet as your brain will immediately associate this space with leisure and rest, disconnecting from your work.

Establish a Work Routine

Even if you have a home office, you should follow a routine similar to that which you’d follow if you were going to work. Don’t stay in your pyjamas all day. Getting ready and dressed as if you were going into the office will help your brain prepare to enter 'work mode'. Organise a routine like the one you followed in the office, such as planning short breaks and trying not to eat while sitting in front of the computer. These little breaks are very important because they will allow you to get back to work with even more energy and fresh ideas. Avoid doing housework during the office hours that you have set because you will lose your concentration and work rhythm.

Plan Priority Tasks

Working from home is not the same as being in the office, where project managers usually have tighter control over daily tasks to ensure that nothing important has been left undone. To be productive, you must become your own boss, which means learning to manage your time and self-regulating. Before starting to work, spend at least 10 minutes organising your day. Check what tasks you have pending and organise them according to their priority. Try to be objective and don’t plan out more tasks than you can do, because you will end becoming overwhelmed and frustrated.

Take Advantage of your Peaks in Productivity

Your energy levels, motivation and concentration will change throughout the day. When working remotely, it’s essential to know when these spikes in productivity occur, so that you can plan your schedule based on them. Most people are more productive in the morning, so it’s best to spend those hours on more complex projects that require more focus and energy. You can spend your less productive hours on tasks that are more repetitive or that require less mental effort, such as checking work emails or planning tomorrow’s tasks.

Avoid Technological Distractions

When you work at home no one controls what you do, so you can end up developing unproductive habits. To meet deadlines, you will have to impose strict discipline - avoid checking personal messages, browsing social networks or reading the news during work hours. Little tricks, like logging out of your accounts, can act as a deterrent and prevent you from logging in automatically. You can also use applications to block access to social networks while you’re working. And if you want to go one step further, there are applications like Strict Workflow that allow you to create a blacklist of websites that you won’t be able to access during the period of time that you specify.

Use Time Management Tools

If you’ve never worked from home, the first few days you may have a hard time staying focused on a task, or you may find yourself being less productive than you thought. In that case, time management applications can become your allies. Productivity applications, such as RescueTime or Harverst, will help you monitor the amount of time you dedicate to each task, so you can detect the black holes where the minutes seem to disappear into. You can also use timers like TomatoTimer to schedule blocks of time of maximum concentration with rest breaks.

Stay in Touch with your Co-Workers

To work from home effectively, you must keep yourself informed about all the changes occurring in the company that may affect your projects. This means that you must keep in constant communication not only with your boss or the project co-ordinators, but with your closest co-workers as well. This contact will help you to better perform your duties, as well as to alleviate the loneliness and feeling of disconnection that you could end up experiencing when working from home.

Staying Productive with Children at Home

If you have children, working from home can be twice as challenging, as we all know they can be noisy and easily bored. Consider a daily schedule, realistic and adjusted to your needs. Remember that it’s better to work fewer hours, but without interruptions to get the most out of them, rather than getting frustrated because you need to stop what you’re doing to continuously look after your children.

A good option is to wake up earlier to take advantage of those hours when your children may still be sleeping. If they are already in school, you could consider signing them up to a breakfast and after school club, so that they can be enjoying themselves, and you can work more. Of course if needs be, technology and video games can also become your allies. Don’t feel guilty for allowing your children to use them while you work. If you live with other people, including siblings, parents or flatmates, it’s important that they respect your work schedule and don’t constantly interrupt you. Keep in mind that your brain takes an average of 23 minutes to re-focus and work at peak capacity after a distraction.

So just because you’re working from home doesn’t mean you’re available at home. Remember that working from home can be an excellent opportunity to develop new professional skills that could be very useful in the future, as well as demonstrating your commitment, worth and dedication to your company.

3 Steps to Creating your Dream Home

5.4.19

For many people owning their dream home can feel like an impossible fantasy - especially when they look at the state of their current abode. But attaining your dream home goal doesn’t have to be a fantasy... well, unless you dream of living in Buckingham Palace of course! So in this post I've put together a few helpful tips, that will hopefully turn your current home, into the home of your dreams.

You might find that your household isn’t far from being your dream home already. But in many cases the problem is that you just have too much clutter in your house to notice! Put some time aside to have a large clear out; not just little bits and bobs, but really consider everything in the house. You could then look into dirt cheap rubbish removal, to get help to dispose of your bigger possessions responsibly. Or even consider selling items so someone else could enjoy them.

Personal touches are also incredibly important when it comes to your dream home - it's what makes it yours! Of course decorating is the first way to make your home feel exactly how you want it. But once that's complete why not get your children to help create some artwork to decorate the walls, or print off special family photos and pop them around the house. Those unique photos, ornaments, paintings, and other quirky features are the aspects of your household that make it one of a kind. That way, it doesn’t feel like some sterile show-home, or the home of the previous owner.

Your garden is more than just an extra space at the back of your property, it’s part of your home, so should be part of your dream home reality too. You can improve your garden’s design easily, by getting rid of weeds, trimming shrubbery, and planting fresh flowers. It’s about lifting the aesthetic of your garden by letting air circulate around the natural wonders of this outdoor area! Once you have the basics completed, why not think about what you desire from your garden - a place to relax? somewhere to grow your own food? It could be whatever you dream!

What does your dream home look like?

The 3 Values Of Home Design

24.7.19

Whether you are designing a brand new home, or you are just starting to think about how you might improve your current one, there are many things that you might need to consider. The more that you understand what kind of elements are important in home design, the more likely it is that you can create the kind of home you really want, so this is something that is going to prove important in any case. In this post, I am going to share 3 of the major values of home design which you need to be aware of. By ensuring that you get the balance between these right, you can create the perfect home for you and your family!

Space
Any home needs a good amount and balance of space. If you need to redesign your home, then you will need to do so with a good understanding of how you are going to create and use the space in the home. There are a lot of ways to create more space, whether that is through loft conversions or extensions, or by decluttering some of the furniture you own. You can also create extra feeling of space by using reflective surfaces, creating smaller areas within bigger ones using lighting, and other similar means. As long as you get the value of space down well, you will find that your home is going to be much better designed on the whole.

Line
By this, I mean the way that you create a sense of form and shape using lines of different kinds, in different directions and of different lengths. This is considerably harder to wrap your head around than something like space. But if you can get to the point where you are creating good lines, you will find that it makes a huge difference to the design on the whole, and that you are probably going to be able to create a connection between the different elements in a room, and in the home more generally. Playing around with the lines between things can be a powerful way to create new sights.

Colour
It’s clear enough that colour is important, but the way in which you should approach it is much more of a mystery, and something that you will find takes plenty of trial and error. In general, try to avoid using too much of a variety of colour throughout the home, and instead settle on a few choice colours which you can champion here and there. That will stop things from being overcrowded, and it will be an easier palette to work with as you redesign your home (or decide to redecorate in the future).

5 Ways to Make your Home Feel More Luxurious

25.4.21

It could be a while until true normality returns, but life feels a whole lot better now that we aren’t restricted to just staying at home. But if you're like us and spent the last year at home spotting everything you don't like and want to change, now really is the perfect time to do it - because what a better time to start than right now? And with the help of these 5 steps, you could have your home feeling more luxurious and how you want it than ever.

Make It Feel Bigger
The perception of space is an essential feature for setting the right tone throughout your home. Increasing natural lighting can make rooms look bigger, and of course decluttering will add to the overall feeling of more space too. It’s not just about the main living space either. Revamping your wardrobe and losing unwanted goods is hugely beneficial. If you focus on one room per weekend, you can make a significant transformation within weeks. Perfect!

Add Kerb Appeal
The outside of your property is far more than just a building - it sets the atmosphere for your home and can impact your emotions each time you return home. Experts such as those at backtofrontexteriordesign.com can complete a full transformation for you. Whether that's adding some trees, a new driveway, or just simply a few small touches such as a new house name can make a big impact. Where suitable, automated gates are a fantastic feature too.

Focus on your Bed
Nothing beats a great night’s sleep, but so many people are actually sleeping on a mattress that isn't right for them (or far too old and uncomfortable). Finding the right mattress firmness level for your requirements should be at the top of your list, closely followed by suitable pillows and duvet to match. You don't need to spend thousands, but this definitely isn't an area where you should just go for the budget option. Luxury starts at home right?

Build a Home Cinema
We are all streaming more content than ever before, so wouldn't it be amazing to create a space where you can watch films and TV shows in full luxury? If you have the space, then professional designers such as those at jnbtech.co.uk can design and build the perfect home cinema for you. If you don't have the room for a dedicated a home cinema, you could get creative and create your own. Projectors aren't too pricey these days, and these can link to a smart device and show directly onto a blank wall - simple but effective!

Garden Upgrades
External appeal shouldn't be limited to the front of your property now more than ever, the garden is the best place to embrace a little outside living. A little luxury goes a long way! Whether it’s adding a deck, building a summerhouse, or creating raised flower beds, just a few simple changes can make a big difference. Artificial grass is another popular choice as it provides a beautiful appearance at all times (and is much easier to upkeep).

Improving the Outside of your Home

12.6.18

We all want to make our homes the most pleasant spaces possible, however there's one incredibly common mistake that almost all of us end up making when it comes to our homes. We tend to focus almost entirely on making the interiors as nice as possible, and completely ignore the exteriors!

Now, this is pretty understandable. After all, you spend the vast majority of your home inside your home so it's pretty easy to forget about the outside a lot of the time. However, if you're ignoring the outside of your home then you're doing it a pretty serious disservice. The outside gives the first impressions, as it's the first part guests see.

One of the most neglected areas of a lot of people's homes is, ironically, one of the places they see most often: the front. After all, every time you leave for work in the morning and come home in the evening, you get a pretty good look at the front of your home. Not only that but your guests are going to notice it a lot of the time as well. Make sure that your front garden is well looked after, and maybe even consider a porches by County to bring some extra life to the front of your home. After all, you never get a second chance to make a first impression.

It's a real shame how often a lot of people end up neglecting their garden. The problem is that a lot of people don't make garden maintenance a part of their weekly cleaning routine and only really get to it every so often. Little bits of care on a regular basis, really can make all the difference towards making your garden a place you actually want to spend your time.

One of the most common reasons a lot of people ignore the outside parts of their home, is that the jobs involved in improving it can be pretty unpleasant. However, that doesn't mean that they're any less important than the more pleasant jobs around the house. Things like cleaning your windows from the outside or clearing blocked gutters might not be much fun, but they're an important part of keeping your home running, and making sure that it looks as nice as possible.

Now, this is not to say that you suddenly need to focus all of your energy on the outside of your home. But the key to making your home the most pleasant and enjoyable space possible is balance!

8 Small Changes to Improve your Home

24.1.19

Wouldn’t you just love to renovate parts of your home that are starting to wear out? Maybe the paint on your walls is starting to fade and you want to replace them, or perhaps you’re tired of your bathroom decor and want to give it a thorough makeover. Sadly though, the reality is that we often don’t have the time or money to perform these large renovations. Even though it could provide us with more functionality at home and also more comfortable surroundings.

However there are other ways to get the same desired effect, without spending much time, or money. Small improvements can still make all the difference! In this article, I'm going to share some small and easy improvements you can do, that will hopefully make a big difference in your home.

Add some inexpensive potted plants - Potted plants can add an inexpensive splash of colour to any room and they're also suitable decorations that kids can get involved with too. You can place them virtually anywhere and they’ll last a while (as long as you continue to take care of them).

Add some door stops - The last thing you want is a door or the handle slamming into a wall, damaging the wall by creating dents and scuffs. Invest in some door stops to prevent this from happening - you can either pick basic standard stops, or even go a bit quirky and pick a colourful animal door stop, whatever fits your decor!

Replace your welcome mat - The first thing you see when you come back home will often be your welcome mat. If it’s littered with dirt and grime, and the lettering is fading, consider getting a new one to make your home a little more inviting. There are so many options to choose from!

Use felt pads on furniture if you have hard floors - Whether you use laminate or hardwood floors, make sure you use felt pads (especially on heavy furniture) in order to protect your flooring. This will prevent marks being made if you move furniture around, and also stop deep marks being left in flooring too.

Change the door handles in your home - You’d be surprised at the effect quality door furniture has on your home. Not only will your doors look nicer, but you'll enjoy using them too. Considering how often you open doors around the home, this is definitely a worthwhile investment.

Hang some pictures or paintings around the house - Be it your child’s art projects in their bedroom, or pictures of you and your family in the living room, a few framed pictures can be a quick and easy way to add a little personalised decor to your home. Mix it up with different frame sizes and styles, and inject some colour with bold prints too.

Use the power of fragrances - Fragrances are powerful ways to change the mood in a room with ease. You could consider using a diffuser, candles or even an automatic air freshener to brighten up the smell of a room. Diffusers are quickly becoming a popular item now too - different oils can be used to create different feelings in the home.

Manage your cables - Cable management is fairly easy with the right tools. You can buy clips that can be nailed or stuck onto walls, to make them look neater, and you can buy sleeves which hold cables together (such as the ones coming off your TV or computer). Hiding unsightly cables instantly improve the look of a room.

4 Ways to Organise your Family Home

9.2.19

When you’re running a busy family home, it can be difficult to keep things continuously tidy and organised. Juggling work, family life and chores can prove to be an almost impossible task. However, there are some ways to make the home run a little smoother, regardless of how busy it becomes. In this post you’ll discover some great tips to help make your house work as a busy family home.

A great place to start is the entrance to the home. This is where shoes, coats and accessories often get stored (or more likely, thrown into a pile!). No matter how many times you tell them, you can guarantee your children won’t ever hang their coats on hangers. So the key is to create a personalised storage system that works for everyone. Use tubs to store shoes or consider adding drawers which can keep shoes stored out of sight. You can also use a tub to keep your keys in and add a large vase by the door to store umbrellas. If the entrance is kept clean and tidy, it’s going to make the rest of the home feel more organised too.

When you have kids, it’s near enough impossible to keep furniture clean and unmarked. Sofas are particularly easy to get marked, either by sticky fingers or spilt drinks - so it’s never going to look clean. Take advantage of the cover up technique to help. You can use a throw to hide stains on the sofa, and a rug to cover up stains on a floor. Just make sure you don't let these become too untidy too though!

Your furniture can take up a lot of space, so in a busy family home this means the furniture can easily become a tripping and bumping hazard. It’s a good idea to try and focus on investing in hide-away furniture wherever possible. Switching from chairs to stools in the kitchen is a great way to save space. Stools take up naturally less room than chairs, plus they can also be stacked for better storage too. Or why not try a fold-away table - it will save space but still be a practical play to eat and do homework.

Finally, baskets can prove to be your best friend when you’re trying to keep a busy family home clean and organised. They can be used to store toys, magazines, remotes, toilet roll and even cleaning products. They’re available in a lot of different sizes and can look really stylish if you want to keep your home looking more 'grown up'.

These are just some of the great ways to make your house work as a busy family home. By investing in the right storage, you can easily keep the home clean and organised. Let me know your best tips below!

5 Downsides of Working from Home

17.11.21

There are so many positives to working from home. Not having to commute (saving both time and money), being able to properly relax during a lunch break, and some may even say they enjoy not seeing certain people around the office. But the thing is, remote working is only fun and games when there aren't any technological problems or mishaps. You need to be able to be flexible, and understanding updated information on your computer isn't something everyone is clued up on. But what are the other downsides of working from home?

Miscommunication

Miscommunication is so much easier when you are working remotely. When you no longer have the face to face interaction that you had before, it’s very difficult to read into the meaning of a written message. You can’t hear the tone or the inflection of the person talking to you, so you can easily misinterpret their message to you. Plus you can't easily pop over to that person's desk to sort a problem either, making mishaps harder to quickly solve.

Isolation

Isolation is much more prevalent than working in an office. When you are at home, it’s just you. Of course other people are at the end of the phone and more businesses than ever are making a point of including working with collaborative software, but that doesn't mean that it’s any less isolating to be at home. There is less of a community spirit here, and that means that you have less of a chance to feel included in something.

All the Distractions

The distractions are real. The TV and the fridge might call to you far more when no one is keeping an eye on you at your desk. You are going to be far more distracted in your work if your home isn't a tidy and calming space either - your mind will probably wander to putting a load of washing on, or whizzing the hoover around if you're not in the office.

Lack of Motivation

It’s harder to get motivated if you're on your own at home. If you work in your pyjamas and you are in your home office surrounded by all your things, it’s much easier to want to not want to do any work. I know I find getting dressed and ready for the day gives me much more motivation, but if you're working from home I can imagine a lot of people just sleep in as long as possible before jumping straight onto a computer at the last minute.

Security Issues

Occasionally you might find that you are dealing with poorly run software or issues with your work. You need to be able to keep on top of updates and upgrades and keep your manager in the loop about them, but having to stop to fix these problems can waste working hours. It's also worth keeping in mind that you'll want to consider better home contents insurance if you've brought your work computers and equipment home with you.

How to Give your Home a New Identity

1.3.19

Our homes are just like us. They change over the years, and their character can either grow or dissipate depending on how they are treated. It might be that you’ve moved into a home for a discounted asking price, and now you wish to put your mark on it. Or it could also be that you wish to improve your home valuation before a sale in the future, so you’re deciding to implement changes now to ensure the sale goes smoothly.

No matter your reason, giving a home a completely new identity is not only worth it, but can be completely enjoyable too. And with the advice below, you should find this easier than if you had started from scratch!

Give it a Name
Simply giving your home a new name can resurface it's identity, especially if you honour what it might have been in the past. You may decide to name it ‘The Forge’ to honour why a listed building was constructed in for example. Of course there are many different measures of naming your property, and you might do so for many different reasons. But a name can often change the identity of something - especially when you have mail delivered or give your address. This might be the cheapest and easiest thing to implement here.

Plan an Extension
An extension can be a wonderful thing to build. It can skyrocket the value of your home, and make use of the properties free space. A conservatory, an entire length of the home with two floors, or even connecting your building to an outside area can all be worthwhile, and might give you a project to take care of for some time. This can truly help your home take on a new identity.

When you have decided what on your plans, submitting them to your local authority is the next important step. Once these are approved you will need to book the professional services needed - it can be worth finding the most professional and cheapest builders waste removal service you can find, in order to ensure the build goes quickly, smoothly, and as cleanly as possible. Then you just need to wait for the construction to complete. Before you know it, you’ll have the extended dream home you always wanted, and when you come to sale, you might even make your money back again!

Decorate the Exterior
Of course you might not want (or be allowed to make) such drastic changes. Instead, decorating the exterior of your property can make a big difference. Painting the window arches and frames, or painting the property walls can add character. Or even painting the front door a new colour gives your home life! Planting a trellis or perhaps arranging hanging baskets can also help provided they are changed at an appropriate rate and cared for. Changing the trimmings can have a great effect, all while being fun and much cheaper to implement.

Landscape the Garden
Hiring professional landscapers to come and make the most of your green space, can ensure the front and back of your property both look fantastic. It will also make the space more likely to be used to it's full potential. You could of course manage the garden yourself too if you're a keen gardener.

Make your Home Super Cosy this Winter

27.10.20

As we edge closer to the chillier, darker days of autumn and winter, I'm sure I can't be the only one who wants to stay at home and get cosy - especially if the rainy days we've had recently continue! Spending more time at home lately, however, has made me notice the little things that I want to do to improve. So, with that in mind, in today's post, I thought I'd share some of the things I want to do to make our house feel more cosy and homely this winter. If you're feeling like I am this post will, hopefully, give you some helpful ideas.

Have a Clear-Out to make your Home feel More Cosy

This is one step that we've already done, and it's made a huge difference to our home already. Having lots of toys, furniture and general items around the house can make it feel cluttered, and therefore, not a nice place to relax and enjoy. Less clutter means there are less items to tidy up and the end of the day of an evening too - which is always a bonus!

Replace your Windows to keep your Home Warm

Something that we really want to do in our house is replace the front windows. They are currently only single glazed so they don't do a fantastic job of retaining heat, which means we rely on using our central heating a lot throughout the autumn and winter months, which is really frustrating and costly! Replacing old windows for double glazed windows not only helps to improve thermal insulation, but will also increase your homes security, too. We have been looking at the FineLine windows, doors and conservatories showroom in Dartford, Kent as it's local to us, but you can see where your local showroom is by clicking the above link.

Think about Lighting to create a Cosy Home

Having 'the big light on' during the winter always seems too harsh to me, especially when you want to create a cosy and inviting atmosphere in your home. Lamps are always a great alternative, and you can now sync these up to smart devices so you don't have to manually turn them on and off constantly. Fairy lights are another great alternative, especially coming in the winter months when Christmas lights are the best way to light your home!

Accessorise Rooms to create a Cosier Feel

A sure-fire way to make a room feel cosier is to decorate it with the right accessories. Blankets, cushions, fluffy rugs and of course plenty of candles too. Candles are great for giving light to a room, but there are so many different scents available now to make your home smell lovely and inviting too. I love these from Yankee Candle, as the scents are a lot stronger than others I've tried in the past. Lots of blankets and fluffy cushions are perfect for snuggling into when watching a film, or simply to keep you extra warm around the house.

Add Elegance to your Home with these Three Easy Steps!

4.6.18

We all want our homes to be the most beautiful and organised spaces we can tailor them to be. But of course we all also have our own tastes to help guide us. Sometimes though, you need to go big. You need to add that wonderful statement piece, that can serve as the focal point of the home. This decision may come from moving into a new home with more space, or just wishing to become a little more eccentric and elegant in your tastes.

Photo by Paul Hanaoka on Unsplash
Real elegance can come from wise decision making and searching for the best items possible. Consider these tips for making the most of this, and turning your home space into an environment that really leaves an impression.

Artwork

Bringing in artwork to your home can be an excellent means of stamping your personality on it's walls. You may decide to buy high-end art, to create some yourself, or even to paint on your walls a mural of your family story. You may decide to use stencils, to hire a professional artist, or to simply decorate your home with souvenirs and artworks you have found through your travels.

A home can tell a story, but with artwork it can tell a pure epic of aesthetic narrative and beauty, something that you may benefit from experimenting with. If you’re feeling super eccentric, it might be that a full oil painting of you and your family can take pride of place in the entry hallway or living area. Sometimes you just have to make a statement!

Lighting

The lighting of your home is essential to consider when trying to add a little elegance. From antique light fittings, to a beautiful centrepiece lighting in your dining room. The way light plays in a room can often make it seem glowing, luminescent, applying focus to the beauty of the room in ways you find most appropriate. A crystal lampshade can diffuse and spread light around the rooms with a glitter effect. If you’re looking for something truly regal and beautiful, using chandelier installation services can help you set up one of the most prominent and celebrating lighting fixtures possible.

Fireplaces

There’s almost nothing quite as rustic and beautiful as a working fireplace. Many homes will possess one of these - perhaps boarded up over time. It will take professional chimney cleaning services and the ability to reconstruct or fireproof your stove, but applying a fireplace in a feature wall can help a room skyrocket in overall value, as well as looking simply fantastic.

Laying on a beautiful rug in the winter with the fire roaring, a glass of wine and a good book can feel straight out of a period novel. It’s more than possible to do, and can add a sense of real comfort and elegance to your home. Of course, maintained correctly, this can be a great way to cut down on heating costs too.

With these tips, adding elegance to your home is more than possible, and something to be celebrated!

5 Changes you can Make to Improve your Home

28.5.19

Whether the changes are big or small, changing up your home can be such an exciting time. If you don’t know where to start hopefully this post will help you, as I am going to sharing 5 changes that you can make in your own home!

Redo your Bathroom
A big change, but something that can make such a big difference to your home is to redo your bathroom. Have a look at replacing all of the larger items including the bath itself, but make sure you don't forget the small details such as rails and taps. People really underestimate the importance of having the right taps, as they can really change the look of the room. If you're struggling to decide, then this guide to bath and sink taps might help you choose the right ones. It is no good getting an entirely new bathroom if the smaller details are not perfect as well!

New Kitchen Cabinets
Of course you could invest in complete kitchen makeover, but if this is (understandably) out of your budget, then why not just purchase new kitchen cabinets instead. The first things that you and your guests are going to see when they enter your kitchen, are the cabinets. Make sure to do your research carefully though, as there are so many different designs and styles to choose from.

Add More Furniture
How much furniture do you have in your home? Unless you are going for the minimalist design trend, then the answer is not as much as you should have! Even if you do have the amount of furniture that you want, why not change up what you already have? Update the furniture that you do have to create a completely new aesthetic in your home - it can make a huge difference. For example if your furniture is all white and sleek, why not add a bit more colour and style with wooden furniture instead.

Sort Out your Garden
If you have been leaving your garden to overgrow for the last couple of years (or even months), then this is an easy area to make changes in, that will make a huge impact! Simply cutting the grass and removing the weeds will make an instant difference. Then you can move onto adding flowers, furniture or even a beautiful water feature to finish off the space. If you don’t think this is something that you can do yourself, you can always hire a landscape gardener, or even rope in family and friends to give you a hand!

Finishing Touches
If you've done the basics around your home - painting, DIY and adding furniture - then your final step is to add the finishing touches. These make your house feel like a home, and will instantly make change up the feeling it gives you. Candles are a soothing thing to have around your home, as they give off wonderful aromas that make your home smell amazing, as well as leaving everything feeling fresh and warm. Fresh flowers will instantly brighten up any room, and of course don't forget to hang your family photographs too.
